I feel A disturbance in the force...
Obscurity lets me take naps in the afternoon...
Live in the moment write for the Ages...
Kiss my Analog ass...Digital world
I get lost at night and find myself dreaming in the morning light
To be a racist against your own race what kind of self hated is that…
When I drink deep dark red wine I see no boundary's of human culture or human kind
Somebody
Somebody takes it
Somebody gives it
Somebody makes it
Somebody lives it
Somebody wants it
Someone rejects it
Somebody stops it
Somebody lets it

One Man
One man wanted peace
one man wanted a seat
one man wanted a leg
one man wanted some feet
one man crawled to freedom
one man walked a mile
one man man made a million
one man saved a child

Cigarettes Taste Better Naked
When your lover shares a puff or two
just for him or her and you
Cigarettes taste better naked
when all is right with god…
and you don’t bring it up
Because you don’t want to be misunderstood
and you don’t want to kill the love
or the the buzz that you are into…
M.S. Morrison
Beauty
When you are looking at beauty
Don’t you know what you are looking at
you are looking at peace
at love
at accidental
perfection
Because beauty is of the moment
and the moment that you realize
that you are looking at beauty
it disappears…
M.S. Morrison
The Greater good
One Trillion for healthcare
One Trillion for banks
One Trillion for the next great Obama Idea
Borrowing tens of thousands of dollars
because you lost your job...priceless
Dont lecture me about the greater good
I have seen both sides of the coin
and one side is just as dirty as the other
Flip the coin and one way or another
you may only destroy yourselves
M.S. Morrison
18 Days
I walked up on the porch
Knocked on the door
Looked up and told him I was there
for the State of Tennessee
He wasn’t too happy
He said he wanted to turn me inside out
or up side down
I knew that all I could do was hold my ground
I said i just need to ask you a question or two about your daughter
She hasn’t been to school in 18 days
and I need to see her to make sure she is okay
and if you don’t mind
I would feel much better
if you would put that gun away
M.S. Morrison
Memories
Where is the banana pudding of my youth
The tingling Cinnamon smell of bare foot dreams
The hot apple pie melting the cold ice cream
M.S. Morrison
We don't want to die
We don't want to die
admit it we don't want to die
we love life and we may have our opinions
but if someone asked us why
we don't want to die...
M.S. Morrison
Nothing We Could Do
I sat on the floor and listened to Vietnam
I was missing a few friends some where out there
They were fighting for me and you
There were voices everywhere from Haiphong to Timbuktu
I listened in on the shortwave to Hanoi Hannah
Listened to the BBC
I laughed and prayed for victory
When it was all over no one said but we knew
My friends weren't comming back and there was nothing we could do
M.S. Morrison
If i expose my life to you then i hope you remember me as more than my Photograph...
Sex Is Not Enough
Stayed up so late that now is morning
Why is sleep so boring
Sometimes even sex is not enough
Why does life have to be so rough
Why does life have to be so rough
That sometimes
Even sex is not enough
M.S. Morrison
To anyone who thinks they see a sign of weakness what makes you think who you
are...

What I will Itch
I can only say so much
Without people looking in
but sometimes i talk and they listen in
And you know i am their bitch
So they ask me for what i will itch
M.S.Morrison
Loving Touch
Sometimes people stand behind you so much
that when they are gone you look around you
and miss their loving touch...
M.S. Morrison
I will parade a lot of things by your street
You will look at them as you will...M.S. Morrison
“One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road
do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response. I don't know, Alice
answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter.” Lewis Carroll
IF
If the bear went over the mountain
If the chicken crossed the road
If the cow jumped over the moon
Then why won't you kiss this horny little toad
M.S. Morrison
I know why i was getting the wrong answerers to my questions on the internet...
i was goggling it instead of Boogleing it...M.S.Morrison
Where Parker stands
On the patio porch
Trying to ignite
a short fuse
In the Hurricane
of a Blond blowtorch
M.S.Morrison
Autumn Leaves
Blurred browns Reds and Golds
Spiral in the air
Touched by unseen force
Spin with dancing flair
Brittle beauties
Sail around the empty trees
Bending masts
Like brightly painted craft
Captured in the Autumn breeze
M.S. Morrison
Truth
I told the truth but you didn't accept it
It was my truth
Not yours
So you had the right to reject it
But not the right to demean it...
M.S. Morrison
My grandfathers life
Frozen in a photograph
is my grandfathers life
He helped build america
took a wife
She stood by him even in the end
when he died on the roof
nailing the last shingle in
M.S.Morrison
We we ain't dead until we lay down M.S. Morrison
Old Oak Tree
Standing out under the old oak tree
I see the long grey limbs
As I walk under its vast protection
For a hundred years standing here
waiting for us to take up its cause
with patience and grace
The big black ants are busy
Moving food around the wrinkled bark
And the yellowed leaves continue to fall
leaves are crunching under my feet in a symphony
This is where I abide not in some closed off room
Let the daylight be my tomb
I have lived long enough to see
The great beginnings of an old oak tree
M.S. Morrison
Rolled Around
You know we kissed so hard
And we rolled around
And in that truck
Untill we both forgot
Why we went to town...
M.S. Morrison
No One Knows what has been
Or what has been seen
My thoughts tumble into reason
Change in every season until they are done...
M.S. Morrison
A stronger dream
i took a long time to love you
i did not know a thing
i thought we disagreed
didnt under stand what we really need
now late at night when we find the way
that saves our souls
we combine into a stronger dream
M.S.Morrison
Perhaps we will stop cutting off our feeds and start tending to our needs and we will
say how they offend us and they will tell us how we suck...
And so the Constitution was written by Christians who in their infinite wisdom
provided a separation between Church and State...M.S.Morrison
We can change the world in 30 seconds... Friends don't hide Friends...Spread the word
and good luck.
Friends don't hide friends...Good Luck
Please open your news feeds to everyone...Thank You...and Good Luck.
M.S. Morrison
The only way this society is going to grow personally is by opening up its (friends)
news feeds to everyone all the time...good luck.
When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength.
Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks,
the fault lies in yourself. Tecumseh
When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of
death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live
their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero
going home.Tecumseh
Ringing Of the Bell
Once again the world has changed
Its gotten better so they claim
Still I keep remembering that age old line
Buddy can you spare a dime
I would trade today for yesterday
Cause yesterday is so far away
From all the wrongs right now
I don’t know where the time has gone
But I can hear the ringing of the bell
And see the red on that blue uniform
That saved me from a living hell
A penny for your thoughts
A prayer for the blind
And buddy can you spare a dime…
M.S. Morrison
Acceptance has found nirvana...
Then what is the beauty of being me...M.S. Morrison
You of all should know the beauty of being you...Michael S. Morrison
We stand on the edge of an anarchy of death cults masquerading as religion...

Deeper Than The Soul
As i fall apart physically
i come together psychically
and i dream more
i dream about peace
and a quiet blue lake
that is deeper than the soul...
M.S. Morrison
When my Love of life deepens...
In the morning when i think
that i have the world by the balls
and i remember all my victories
and any defeats seem distant
is when my Love of life deepens...
Michael S. Morrison
The moment we find the reason behind an emotion...the wall we have built is
breached, and the positive memories it has kept from us return, too. That is why it
pays to ask those painful questions. The answers can set you free! :) Kristan Ware
The poet is always the last one to know...M.S. Morrison
100,000 years from now scientists will think that we worshiped street signs.
You can cook a 20 pound turkey with a Hair Dryer if you have enough time...
Halloween
I remember going up to the door and holding my hand out and she put a really small
squishy brain right in the middle of my palm...and smiled
And you wish it were real
What you thought you saw in your lovers eyes
And then a baby smiles as the world goes by
M.S. Morrison 1990
I may shrink to the size of a pea..But I will still be me M.S.Morrison
The President
He always stood
Tall for his neighborhood
Safe and Sound
He had been a Conservative Democrat
And a real good shot at that
He loved the poor
and he was cordial with the rich
and he wasn't too self concious to scratch an itch
He was not a lonely man
His wife always had a smile
He was technologically correct
And his head was properly attached to his neck
And he didn't know the why to the here or how
But he was the President at least for now...
M.S. Morrison
Time Made Me See
I tried to keep out of the way
I didn't want to look at yesterday
But time made me see
That what we were avoiding
Was our destiny
M.S.Morrison
How Do You Keep Love Alive
Maybe with A little hugging
Maybe with a little truth
Maybe when you rollover
late at night
You reach out..
And whisper..
Is that really you...
M.S. Morrison
I am the dog
It does not matter what you feed me
I will resist your attempts to tame me
You may keep me warm
But i am waiting for the world to be destroyed
So that my tribe can once again prove
That we are superior to your fascist groove
M.S. Morrison
My dog Buckley wrote this Poem...He says he is not my dog.
Promised
She said don't ever leave me
because I will stab you in the back
and I promised not to leave her
unless she had a heart attack...
M.S.Morrison
The Fence
When I stand out by the fence
That divides us and look out at the wide vistas
I realize why we all feel so small and so unsure of ourselves
Why we argue with shadows
Why we believe that our thoughts are omnipotent
M.S. Morrison
Because we are human...
End Of the Dream
There was too much money at stake
And an election that never ends
So what is a little thievery among friends
So we giveth and we taketh away
Because when the sun comes up
They will still believe
So now lets get our story straight...
Victory will be declared
Everything will remain the same...
Though their are no Violins
We can hear the beginnings
of a musical scheme
As we all slowly wake up
To the end of the dream
M.S. Morrison
Victory will be declared everything will remain the same...
No Violins
Though their are no Violins
We can hear the beginnings
Of a musical scheme
As we all slowly wake up
To the end of the dream
M.S. Morrison
A song has been sung...
And pet the dogs and remember how much I love Her...
And drink the coffee she brung...
Maybe I do If I set aside the wine...
Sounds like a song but do I have time...
Well my wife says I have to sober up for breakfast
and she is sending the dogs to make sure I do...

Still You Are Sitting There
You've always known
That I am going to tell you about my life
Whether you like it or not
And still you are sitting there
In that big comfortable chair.
M.S.Morrison
I have always been surrounded by strong women and weak whiskey...
I am having a period somebody call the punctuation police...
And every one is feeling very small so why don't we stay very very tiny...
They Almost Have To Call The Police
Yesterday he was a troubled child
The teachers said
He can do anything he wants to do
The problem was He usually did
And then he grew up and could not be controlled
And did not play well with others
And could not be consoled
He got in fights he could not win
He won and lost and lost again
Did a little jail time
And learned the reason to the rhyme
Got a job in corporate society
Founded a small tribe of his own
Learned that life was full of variety
And that he was a variety of his own
Now he owns a little music store
And helps to keep the peace
But late at night some times he gets very angry
And they almost have to call the police
M.S. Morrison
Still You Are Sitting There
You've always known
That I am going to tell you about my life
Whether you like it or not
And still you are sitting there
In that big comfortable chair.
M.S.Morrison
I am more concerned with everyone than I am with anyone...
but we we didn't lie...
We Didn't Lie...
When they lied they had no concerns
Because it kept them in the room
What they told you was a lie
But we dont hold it against you
We love you and we were fooled too
We admit we weren't the smartest in the room
But we didn't lie...
M. S. Morrison
I Got Up
I got up and hung my head
told everybody that I was dead
but then I took anouther walk
around the block
and started feeling better
and decided not to sin
I decided to stand and not to run
From anything or anyone...
But I didn't do so good on not sinning...
M.S. Morrison
All I Know
Mama dont say how I can be
Me seeing you and you seeing me
She says we were ment to be
But all i know is...
Me seeing you and you seeing me
M.S. Morrison
The poet is always the last one to know...M.S. Morrison
On my worst day I am Better than yesterday... M.S. Morrison
No one takes me seriously as a dog, that is why I remain a dog...M.S. Morrison
People who get angry about what I say make me angry... M.S Morrison
Dogs Barking
Dogs barking in the yard
Dogs you tied up
Barking because you ignored them
Barking because you fed them
Barking because
You did not have the balls to release them
M.S. Morrison
Death is an empty dream...M.S. Morrison
I still have hope for the world..but not because of its leaders.
Man is only faced with controversy of his own making and others
M.S. Morrison
Disappointed
If we are being watched from outer space
then more than likely someone is very disappointed...
M.S. Morrison
Crazy With Time
Oh Lord I get crazy with time
Please won't you talk with me
Got drunk on a river of wine
While trying so hard to be free
My father said life is rough
And you know how rough it can be
So I feel that life would be fine
If you would just talk with me
Crazy with time
Crazy with time
No Lovers to loose
Only one love to find
Lord I am afraid
That I am loosing my mind
Show me the way throw me a line
(cause) Oh Lord I get crazy with time
M.S. Morrison
We Lost Everything
There will be seasons rain or shine
Drifting slowly through our minds
Be still old heart and let those feelings in:
Talk about the hopes we had
Before the painted moon got sad
Before the love birds ceased to sing
Before the government went broke
And we all lost everything
M.S. Morrion
China Moon
Its only afternoon China moon
What have you been waiting for
Sitting out there shinning
through my open door
You know this just can't be
I feel like you've been tracing me
in broken lines across the sky
Where as a child..I lay down
and sometimes cried
And if you weren't there
you came real soon..China moon
There is no aching gloom
in this room.. China moon
Maybe shes not here right now
but you don't have to waste your time
she will be here soon
I know she will...China moon
Okay..well maybe you've been watching me
These last days haven't been so good
But with luck.. and ill knock on wood
I am sure she would come back..If she could
Ive been so tired of this empty room..China Moon

The Flower
The flower that blossomed
Found peace in the mist of morning
Dancing across meadows long forgotten
M.S. Morrison
The Guppy
I used to feel like i was only one guppy
and what can one guppy do
Then i saw in my mind
a sea of millions swimming together
spinning and flashing in the sun light
And I realized that in my guppyness
i had found power... and peace
M.S Morrison
Calling one political line of thought better than than another
is like calling one death better than the other...
M.S. Morrison
Folly
And paying taxes...
Well Except for gambling...
Sex Is the only folly that we are willing to try over and over again...even with few good
results...
M.S. Morrison (Read it Facebook style)
The Ghost
Did you hear me dreaming in your dreams
Scheming in your schemes
Did you pick up the scent
Of dogs on the road
Running thru the night
Did you see me
Running up the stairs
Asking you who cares
Did you close your eyes
When you were telling all those lies
As you were sleeping
But no ones asking you
The where or when
And thats where
All my visions end
M.S. Morrison
When the mind is still
the floor where I sit
is endless space.

Carl Lambert: You must realize that what is at stake here does not reside in words and

I Feel Like The S Just Fell Off My Chest
Its frustrating and its cold
I am 55 years old… only half of my life
I knew some days would be like this
I used to smoke when I got wired
Does any body know what to do
When you feel a little too tied to move on
The sun will come up
But will I be ready for what comes
What was the answer… I think I forgot the question
I am no longer hungry and want to rest
The only thing I know is that I love you
And I feel like the S just fell off my chest
M.S. Morrison
The Diner
There was a time as a child
When I imagined a world upside down
Where down was up and square was round
Now when I get all dressed up
and walk over to the Diner
and I order my eggs and cheese
My desire rises
Maybe for the waitress maybe for the hash browns
Maybe for a long quiet sultry afternoon
Maybe for the cold cold rain pouring down
M.S. Morrison
Does a president who over war presides deserve the Nobel Peace Prize...
Nobel Prize
They went to war thinking they could win
They found the show was bigger than them
Then the president said… and 5 more died
They learned to dodge and weave and hide…
Brave men good men died and died and died
Then the president said and 12 more died
They were walking through the villages handing out food
The people were asking them about their president
and that Nobel prize and if it would keep them all warm
and fed and alive…

Sometimes When i Think That i Know What i Am Doing
For sometimes when i think that i know what i am doing i am on the wrong road or
going down a one way street and do not know a goal that would satisfy my soul...as if
a soul could be satisfied...

What We Don’t Forget
Much of life is a memory
What we don’t forget
And what we don’t put in the back of our mind
Is usually lost with time
What we don’t forget
What we don’t forget
Isn’t lost yet…
M.S. Morrison
And Did What We Pleased
She told me I wouldn’t be her last
But she said she would be more than happy
To help me make the time pass
So I looked past her loveliness
And she looked past my dreams
And we emptied out our loneliness
And did as we pleased…

The sorrow and the fun
I wish you were here
But you are dead
But not to me
I still carry you
In the deep softness
Of my passing memory…

TIMES
My mother used to lock us outside
In Florida in the summer
So we could enjoy the sunshine
But we were bored
And started banging on the back screen door
Whining about how hot it was
I am sure we will miss her when she is gone
But back then we were just bored and whining…

Then I Had All The Doors Removed
I once hired a Socialist to work in a Capitalist environment...
I also hired a Capitalist to work in a Socialist environment
They got so confused...
The Capitalist would come to work thru the Socialist door
The Socialist would come to work thru the Capitalist door
I finally fired both of them and hired a 56 year old grandmother from Iowa
who was a sciocapitalist...
Then I had all the doors removed.
M.S. Morrison
I used to think I was a Communist; I even bought myself a manifesto. You might think
it is weird for a Communist to buy a manifesto, but I have found that if you want a
really good manifesto, then it is worth every dollar that you pay for it...you get what
you pay for... especially in a manifesto.
If as Democrats we cannot support dissent, then what can we support...

Conservatives are not all Republicans, but the Left sure wishes we were...
M.S. Morrison
To my Republican friends with whom I have had a beer or two:
Being a Democrat is a genetic disease and to be a conservative (Blue Dog) Democrat
is even a rarer disease; Somewhere along the line of winning a negative lottery where
you cash in the ticket and owe the government a million dollars.
No one likes you, everyone suspects you, and its almost like you used the word
moderate in mixed company, or even worse said you were not so sure about Obama's
politics...
I have said that...And I will stand up to the coming storm because i am a Blue Dog
Democrat...Forever.
The Democrat's complain when the government works and when the government
doesn't work and I am still a Democrat...Confusing isn't it.

Do you not speak blue dog...
well in this case you might want to learn to speak give a shit...
you do know that we need health care.
We might need to act like we understand the Care in healthcare
So maby we really reach out.
This is not the pretend media thing we have been doing
But walking across the street to the neighbors
Who we claim to despise
And really asking
How we can help to positivily change their lives...

I care what you say and the enemy is not you...

you find a brand new way to slap it...

There are poor losers and poor winners...both end up in the same boat...the one that is
sinking.
The democrats have cheered for failure for 8 years and now they continue to cheer for
the failure of the people who disagree with them. They attempt to use the press to
make them themselves look better; but they have failed and are about to have a failed
presidency if they continue to fail to include those outside of their political comfort
zone. The power of the democratic party has always been inclusion... there are poor
losers and poor winners...both end up in the same boat...the one that is sinking.
Upon The Fire
I live on the island of Merlot
far far away from a long time ago
And when i wake up
If i do i always think of you
and i always say
i wounder what she is doing today
because i am hopelessly broken
and today i have no desire
to put another log
upon that god damn fire

Wipe that smile off their face…for me.
In West Virginia we used to float toy wood boats down the creek
And throw rocks at each other to save our own self respect
We were the ones who would go off to war
For the same reasons
Even if we were told it was a suckers game
Because our red neck grand mothers were so proud of us
And with their eyes would say
go back out there and wipe that smile off their face…for me.

What Will Help Out
What is the crucial answer
What will help us out
What will save America
Without a dought
A little faith
A little kindness
A little hope
A little love
And maybe a little grace

M.S.Morrison
A Little Faith (And)
I shake my fist at the darkness
And I gather all my friends
And we protect ourselves
And we put a little faith in the future

And take care of our children
And have a little faith

Love Is More Than A Memory
I never thought that I would be looking for love
Don’t know where I lost it
Did I leave it in my car
Maybe I just misplaced it
It could not have gone far
Saw it yesterday boy it looked so good
I need to find it now so I can feel like I should
Yea love is more than a memory and I need it now
If I can just remember the who, why and how

If life will just forgive me and you…
If you could see what I see
You would see laughter
You would see peace
You would see the beautiful ugliness
That is the framework of life
You would see the lovers in the park
Steaming up the windows
Trying to wipe that last bit of loneliness away
Turning to each other
Saying with their lips what lovers say
I love you better now than I did yesterday
And we can all stay that way
If life will just forgive me and you…

To Where I began
There were days that I could fly all by myself
To the moon and back and I was my own hero
And if I needed to love someone
I would start with myself
But now I am as strong as stone
And as lonely as a cold wind
So I am hoping I can get back again
To where I began and smile…

You Are The Best I Will Ever Do
I met up with my future
I met up with my past
Then I realized nothing ever lasts
All I hear is laughter when I decide
To hide what I can’t understand
But do I love you hell yes I do
Why because and even more
I will always live at your door
I will always live at loves door
You are the best I will ever do

To Make Her Mind (mine)
I left her on a street in southern Arizona
And I am sure she took the first truck out
She was a well built girl with bigger dreams
Than my mind could figure out
And I still wish I knew what she was about
But she was my favorite girl at the time
And I would have given everything to make her mine

Life...It's all lies; and the rest of it is lies about lies...
But I am not really sure about that...
Over Time...
Life...It's all lies; and the rest of it is lies about lies...
The more time passes, the more the truth looks like a child's left behind toy...
And if you were wondering...that means you can do anything with the truth, and still
getaway with calling it the truth...Over time
Truth over time...divided by ???

What Does War Cost
It costs everything
It costs more than we can believe
It costs people
Families
Like yours
And their's
There is depravity in war
There is loss
The people involved never recover
War scars the generations who come after
Makes them prisoners
Of the darkness that fell upon their doorstep

"Obama told “60 Minutes” last week that if a health care bill passes, “I own it.” But, if it
fails, the Republicans will own it."
Does Obama Hope the bill fails so he can claim victory?
And then still do nothing.
More political wrangling more social stupidly...
And in the process people are dying...
It's time to see that politics will not solve this problem. No one wins.
This is not a game of chess.
Lets stop going back and forth trying to get the advantage.
There is no advantage.
People are dying and we all know it.
It does take a spine to stand up and take the abuse from both sides.
We must reach beyond politics in order to find a solution.
That is all I am saying.
Don't chew me up God don't spit me out...

What Can We Do
We all need healthcare. If the current administration does not have the political will to
provide it then we will vote for some one else next time; and again and again, until our
mothers and fathers and children and brothers and sisters and neighbors are
covered...Damn the cost. If we cannot take care of ourselves as a nation what can we
do?
And I will add that the cost of insurance should not be shifted to those who work for a
living...
The Poor should be supported under the Medicare system and the standards should
be same as the National Healthcare System that we will develop.
National Healthcare will be about everyone getting the best Healthcare that America
can provide.
I said Damn the cost...Well there is no cost when We are a healthy nation...If we allow
family's to subtract from their tax liability any and every heath care cost including
co-payments for health care then we help them to become more productive.
While we are not going to resolve the discussion here
We must understand that our political power should remain in reserve.
We must be willing to vote for solid plans that have a
reasonable expectation of positive results;
And only support those willing to take on political risks.
Our future is at stake.
If you don't think so wake up and look around you...
Right Direction?
I think we are moving in the right direction on health care if the president and the
congress does what it says it wants to do. We need some policing of insurance
company polices as well as more competition between insurance companies. We
need to create a national health care insurance system instead of the state by state
system we have now that actually reduces competition. We need to eliminate
Preexisting conditions as an excuse for not paying claims and of course there are
many others needs that must be addressed. I now believe that President Obama may
be able to change health care for the better. But no one will be totally satisfied with
the solution. So are the ways of politics...

and she definitely
had all the equipment for the abuse
She said she was getting a PhD in sexual science
and could I help her out
Well we did the best I could
and she said I knew you would
and in the end I hope we both were pleased
Then she said will you answer a few questions
about this wonderful psycho sexual disease
She said do you love me and I said no
But I told her there was a moment

And in his later years he was constantly passing away
Almost dying as he talked
like there was nothing he could say that would stop the talk
He used to mumble stuff about freedom like he owned it
And he used to mumble stuff about peace
And when we found him dead in his apartment
We felt a kind of release because we loved him

You want everyone to do the right thing
But they just don’t know how

Why arent the sinners listening
Why don’t they repent
Why don’t they know your gift is heaven sent

And he didn’t understand why he was so misunderstood

Its Real Cold Out There
This morning I was thinking as I some times do
Thought about the poor people and what we could do
Thought about the rich and I though about Jesus
Now I don’t really want to bring this up
But I really don’t think Jesus changed any of us except for a few
Yea were still the same and it’s the same old game
Me and you talking about what we will do to save us
And as we walk down any street
we see the haves and the have not’s
and the wind blows cold on our back
And I ask what would Jesus do
And I think he would say cover up
Cause its real cold out there…

We Were Only Dreaming
London Bridges falling down
The train will take you round
To a single room
On the other side of town
I wrote this tune
While you were softly sleeping
Along the crowded streets
Where we will one day meet
On an empty bus just the two of us
We will be there
The red sun slowly bleeding
And if one brick should fall
If one of us should hit the wall
We both will say
That we were only dreaming

I can hear the dog barking
You came home
To make my misery
Knowing how I cried
Banging doors in the kitchen
Enough to wake me from my dreams
Where I was happy
I can still hear the dog barking
Out beside your car
With the dented fender

Mary
They took the Christmas decorations down today
Put baby Jesus away and some wise men
There used to be an old lady
Sleeping in the plastic straw
Hoping to be saved
Her name was Mary
This muddy spot once her home is now her grave
And is filling up with snow
They tore down the stable and took the painted donkey away
Now Mary has somewhere else to go
No longer tormented by the cold
Another place to stay…

Nasty Stains

What once so dirty now so clean
Blue soap powder killing germs
Removing stains from fishing worms
Little children with plastic guns
With their little wars to run
The bad guys always look so mean
The good guys how they stay so clean
As they make their hit and run
Faces on the nightly news
Dirty kids who have no shoes
All their guns have Russian names
Making for some nasty stains

The overhang in the eyes

The page so boldly…
I examined life
The pages were torn
I turned the leaves
By the ragged edges
The ink was smeared
By the tears of others
Who could not find
A comforting passage
Some words were clear
Others broken and without meaning
I turned the pages and wept
The last yellowed page was blank before me
I laughed at the tiny ant that walked across
the page so boldly…

Hey Blondie
Hey Blondie you were holy every Sunday
But you’re dress was soiled by Monday
As they watched you play by play
Hey Blondie you gave them what they asked for
But you always tried to be more
As you wiped the tears away
You glittered in the light
Made your dreams dance in the night
But you didn’t want to be loved that way
Oh Blondie…
You knew the pieces didn’t fit
But your body wouldn’t quit
So we watched you as your life slipped away
You were a sacrificial lamb to the cravings of every man
The victim of a dream that ran away
Oh Blondie…
The Marilyn you died for was the prisoner of a golden door
With only one escape
Hey Blondie…

Michael S. Morrison: a work in progress
Born in 1954 in a small river town in Montgomery West Virginia to a teacher and a
nurse, Michael soon moved to New York City and then to Long Beach Long Island,
New York, where his love of the sea began.
He spent summers at Hawks Nest Dam in West Virginia and also in the flatlands of
South Carolina and began his personal education in southern culture there at the age
of six.
When the family moved again to Fort Pierce Florida and then to West Palm Beach
Florida he became bonded with the salt water. Michael began his poetry at the age of
twelve.
Michael was involved in a catastrophic motorcycle accident in 1971, which left him
paralyzed from the waist down. After spending two years in rehabilitation he walked
out and went home.
He is still partially paralyzed and walks though force of will. (well on a daily basis its
not that dramatic)
Married at Nineteen, divorced at 27, he moved to Murfreesboro Tennessee and
entered Middle Tennessee State University where he received a degree in Social
Work.
After one year as a state social worker, he became a manager for the Walden book
company and then opened his own business in 1993. Married to a dedicated southern
girl from small town Tennessee, Michael is the president of Digital Planet a new and
used media store in Murfreesboro Tennessee.
A Blue (Double) dog Democrat; he is currently reviving his poetry and irritating his
friends and enemies.
The Horrors Of Public Health Care (I am already dead)
He pushes the call button but nobody is there
To save the older patient laying next to him
He is saying if only the public knew
The horrors of public health care
He laid there forever watching the nightly news
They were talking about the money they saved
Not talking about the lives they lose
And the man on TV said its better
And the man on TV said its good
And the man on the TV talked just like he should
Then in that dirty government hospital room
He pulled out the rusty IV and got out of his bed
He stood naked before God
Held up his one finger salute
And screamed I am already dead…

LAWS OF SLIPPAGE
1. In order for a system to function it must maintain an undetermined amount of
slippage

Smile
I get lost in your dark arching eyebrows
Then I smile and become content
Listening to whatever you want to talk about
Listening to you speak what I think
Forgetting what you don’t want me to remember

A Rose For Jesus
When you move the Jell-O shifts in my bowl
Gravity pulls upward… my hair parts
Just like the Red Sea did
In that book that gathers more dust than any other
Words for better people than me
You move and I believe
Hands folded at the table
Dear Jesus:
I will say my prayers from now on until Tuesday
Please pass no judgment until then
P.S. The man on the news called it an earthquake
But we know better don’t we

A Peaceful Solution
He died somewhere today
His face flashed on the evening news
From half a world away
And everyone was taking about a peaceful solution
And everyone was waiting for the music to begin
Then the Star Spangled Banner echoed in…
And the first pitch was thrown
And his face flashed somewhere else again

Antique Satin Robe
Colors running in my window
Melting crayons on the stove
Cooking up a blank white mixture
In my antique satin robe
There are feelings without texture
Like polished crystal smooth and clear
Like the vision of a lover
Never far away or near
There’s a coldness in the kitchen
That illuminates the soul
Turning colors into crystal
When there’s nowhere else to go
All the moments lost in mixture
Like the colors on the stove
When yellowed time becomes a fixture
On my antique satin robe…

In The Name Of Love
In the name of love with a promise made
That they would always be faithful to the end
In the name of love a new life began in the name of love
As the years sweep by we turn the page
Find the places where their mistakes were made
In the name of love there is a price that’s paid in the name of love
In the name of love they got old and grey
They are together now because they stayed that way
In the name of love with a promise saved
In the name of love. In the name of love
M.S. Morrison
Our own decision
At best we see life in small snippets
We don’t always understand what we see
But we want to see more and more and more
Because this is no time for inhibitions
We are animals who have the gift of language
We know how to attract others by our movement
We know how to give life and we know how to kill
Our ideas about conservation are somewhat unique in our history
When we seek to save biological legacies from destruction we transcend what is
human
We look beyond today and even beyond tomorrow thru the window of our souls
Trying to save ourselves spiritually by saving the biological content of earth
What tomorrow brings is our own decision

Destiny Of Chance
On Peg legs Pirates dance
Spinning circles round a destiny of chance
She loves me loves me not
They fire their guns in the air
With targets never clear
They sail around
Do pirates really care
To ever settle down
In houses sharp and square
With peace forever near
or worship in a building with a mast like spire
Holding hands to utter Holy sounds with choir
Not as long as their world is spinning round
M.S. Morrison
Listen closely to what your enemies say about you and fire your your arrow straight
and true.

Eyes So Wild
Long ago when I was a child
I used to look in the mirror
And smile with my eyes so wild
Some times when no ones around
I look in the mirror again
Then in comes the child
With his eyes so wild
He’s my child now

Nobody Knows Me
Nobody knows me right now …
Nobody knows me right now …
If I get famous promise not to have a cow

No nobody knows me
Nobody knows me
Nobody knows me
Right now…

Because of what he promised
He ran against the mayor on a platform of change
He won by a landslide now he sits in city hall
At his first city meeting there was an unruly crowd
Because of what he promised you know the change and all
It seems what everyone wanted was different in their minds
What would save one would might cause the other pain
So he had them all arrested and he put them all in jail
Then he called up the governor to file a complaint:
He said you just cant please them all no matter what you say
After a short silence he said governor are you there?
The governor said you got to be careful with peoples lives
and be careful what you promise them
they are sons and daughters of husbands and wives
and significant others young and old
Forget about your political designs and do what works
So he let them all out of jail and sent them all home
He had a new meeting down at city hall
And he let every body talk and he listened to them all
And listened and did what he could do
And became more careful about what he promised them
But they were all still angry about the jail time
M.S. Morrison
The story is not over yet...
AND I WILL DEFEND MYSELF
If you cross me once I will probably ignore it
maybe even twice if you are lucky
But if you insist we will go to war
and my Cherokee and Apache blood will boil together
And you will loose
…it is not because I am never wrong
It is because my spirit has been here for over a thousand years
and I will defend myself

When he could afford a tree
He burned a log in the fireplace
and thought about those green house gasses
Then he looked at the children smiling and warm
And he knew that when he got a new job

He would plant a tree in the back yard
When he could afford a tree…

Paper Flowers
On my way to freedom
When I thought I had it made
I forgot to smell the flowers
Lost their scent along the way
Now I miss the sweet gardenias
And the pecan trees outside
My toes ach for the wet sand
With the water running by
Now life moves a little slower
On a Sunday afternoon
I got what I went after
Paper flowers in the room
There’s a pretty senorita
To ask me if I feel alright
A nurse who rustles softly
As she turns out all the lights

Walking
America has been mugged…again
People with a political party that begins with D
Promised the American people a ride
They said they would take us where we needed to go
Then they took all our money and left us standing along side the road
The party of the R has betrayed us too
Its time to begin walking
Walking by the millions to ask for real freedom

At A Safe Distance
We used to wave goodbye
At A safe distance from our protectors
Mommy would say avert your eyes
they are carrying weapons
They looked so determined
Against the deep blue sky
And as we tended garden that year
We dreamed about their victories
Then one day a man came to our door
He demanded my fathers gun
And took the family silver with him
And said he would protect us from now on

Story To Tell
I went a little crazy on the southern ideal
Like Elvis I was a poor boy with a story to tell
Learned to play guitar on the edge of my bed
Heard the roar of the crowd but not what was said
Moved to L.A. with a hope and a prayer
Just another poor boy with a story to tell
I got me an agent with an agent of her own
And she tells me I’m good and she tells me I’m great
She buys all my drugs and sets all my dates
And when I get a little crazy from the rock and roll
She puts her arms around me and once again I’m whole
I’m just a poor boy with a story to tell in my own kind of hell
Sitting up late on the edge of my bed
I can hear the roar of the crowd
I just can’t remember what was said

Like Diamonds Lost When You Are Gone
Don’t cry little one
Live plush in the deep green spring
and fly out on the early dawn
Tomorrow is another day
Don’t cry little one
You are still the precocious child you have become
And a beautiful woman along the way
Don’t cry little one
No one knows like you
The love you give with the morning dew
And the tears we all will shed
Like diamonds lost when you are gone

It’s a tenuous existence that we live

Just Take My Word For It
I love you and you love me
That’s not enough for me
I like to stand alone and be what I can be
I love you more than tomorrow but less than yesterday
Let me put this another way…
There was a time
There was a place
In outer space, when we belonged together
Just take my word for it…
M.S. Morrison
And We All Die In The End
I looked at what might have been
then I looked at tomorrow
And I looked at the days in front of me
And wiped away the tears of my sorrow
I started over again
And I am glad you are still my friends
And we all die in the end
M.S. Morrison
NOW AND THEN
It took a long time to come around the bend
Now you see me and I see you

And I could Love you
Now and then

Just like when we met twenty years ago
I keep loosing what I found
But I keep trying to become a better person.

Words Didn't Matter
I looked up and saw the face of a lover

To this day I can’t remember what was said
There were words but words didn’t matter…

Hawks Nest… West ( By God )Virginia
I grew up with a cat on the porch and a long haired lazy dog
Where the sunlight streams through the trees so green

On a gravel road where the crowds don’t go and the hands of the clock stand still
That brings to mind a simpler time when living was the biggest thrill…

Then a baby smiles…
When the sky turns dark and cloudy
And you’re laying there with a broken body
Listening to some strangers as they cry
Promising to come to see you
Wishing that they could be you
Hoping that you would get better one more time
…then you run beyond the trees
To an open field in your mind
Where the perfection of your pain
Is of a special kind…
And you wish it were real
What you thought you saw in your lovers eyes
And then a baby smiles as the world goes by

If I Could Take A Bullet For The World
I hope it would go straight through me
With a white hot passion it would cleanse me
And kill the bitter life that so many still live
Maybe then we could fall down in laughter
In the deep green grass of what were after
Never being less than what we are
With a place to put all our sorrows
Finding all our new tomorrows
Soaring with the blue birds in the clouds
But when I look around me
Looking at the eyes that found me
Like everyone I hope for one more day
But still I say… If I Could Take A Bullet for the World

Saigon
Watching a Tiger walk through the mush.
A steaming mixture of organic decay..
In which three bodies lay face down.
He slowly reaches for his spoon.
Then stabs aimlessly at the fly..
In his hot bowl of cereal..
Gone are the days of Saigon,
He mumbles silently..
Gone are the days of Saigon.

The day the towers died
It was a crisp September
We were talking aimlessly as people do
A plane flew into the first building
As TVs lit up across the world
Everything was in slow motion
We didn’t know what it meant
Oh god what next..what now..
The world stopped
As the towers fell we sat in silence
Then we gathered up our gear
Locked the door and went home
To the uneasy world that lay before us

Blue Heaven
A chosen son of the promised land
He blasted off with a master plan
To bring back to the human race
A gleaming chunk of outer space
And he called it Blue Heaven
In a rocket built with his own two hands
From a vision seen in the dark of night
With a holy cross upon his chest
And a heart knowing wrong from right
Blue Heaven…Blue Heaven
He’s just looking for a little piece of heaven
Blue Heaven…Blue Heaven
Just searching for a little Blue Heaven
Deep into the Las Vegas sky
He gripped the golden throttle tight
He said his prayers and looked outside
And thought about Elvis died
They found him on a mountain top
The papers called it suicide
The body was later lost
His mother said he never lied

MICHAEL
Michael got what Joe wanted.. a martyr.
Michael could not escape the bonds of earth unless he died.
Joe reveled in it :
The aftermath:
Michael dead without a voice;
The millions continued to roll in;
Whatever wrong there was before was compounded.
Only God can save you now Michael:
Laying there on that crown of thorns,
I hear a singing in the wind…and a brief respite in the wings;
Then the orchestra begins with strings and winds.
Michael sings with a choir of angels.
Forever is you’re fate..why wait..Forever is you’re fate.
Who will take up this cause.
Who will save justice.
For a man can do what he will;
But what is the value of his life,
if he does not own his dream in the end.

Low cost labor drove immigration.. we won the competition through better opportunity.
By the 1880s we became more cautious of our acceptance.
We began to reject some but still accepting many.
We manifest all foreign passengers and created a history.
36 hours and four days in 3 classes is what it took to pass the endurance test of ocean
travel to America
During the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the twentieth century there
was excitement all around
People were bustling into America
The adventure continued…Will we ever reach America was the question.
The best part of the travel was the tearful end at the Statue of Liberty.
They were so happy they began to sing… living is golden... living is golden.
As they sailed on to the Isle of Tears and into the company of strangers.

She Simply Died
My neighbor died today
A little old Grey haired lady
That the ambulance quietly carried away
There was no hurry
No crowd
No reporters asking why
She simply died

We weren't allowed to pledge allegiance to the flag. This was hard to explain. The very
same flag that allowed us to say no. My Sixth grade teacher made an example of me.
He pointed me out and called me a communist. I asked my father to talk to him and he
told me that it was my responsibility to stand up for my faith. I told my teacher that I
would stand but that I would not hold my hand up against my heart.

Because They Are Coming
What color is your planet
The one you live on
The island you sit on
The opinion you hold on to
For dear dear life
I got a 45
Sitting by my bedside
Waiting for an argument
That never comes
You tell me what to believe
You tell me what you see
Be the lookout
The keeper of the hideout
Because they are coming

I WAS 55
I smelled the hot rain falling
On the Home Depot parking lot
Oil drenched steam billowing up
With the slight smell of sawn lumber in the air
Like my first day in the auditorium in my elementary school
With the wood floors freshly oiled
Filling our minds with the whispers of what lay beyond
And tempting us to run home across the yard

My Grandmother:
Used to make sandwiches for the starving people passing by her house during the
great depression.
She was a half breed Cherokee but no one knew.
She was proud of her race a great cook she made a life of cooking.
My grandmother was a pragmatist; she did what worked.
She never invested in the stock market because she thought it was gambling.
When World War II broke out she sewed Parachutes for the U.S. Army.
She met my grand father as a field cook, feeding the men who built hydroelectric
dams across the south.
If there was a rock and a hard place she was there.
She could drink curse and spit as good as any of the men.
My grandmother built a hard scrabble life for herself with an indefinite future.
She left her two children short of loving kindness and a feeling of well being, But Self
Reliant.
My grandmother tried in the little time we had to improve my life and feed me
spiritually.
She showed me a picture of her mother in Indian (Cherokee) dress because she
wanted me to know.
My grandmother died with her hand in mine at the age of 86 in Florida within Minuets
of my arrival.
We all cried because there nothing we could do.
She was always stronger than us and finally she had her own way .

Coming up out of the depths
Swimming up
From the deep
A cold blue feeling colder than ice
A chill runs up my spine and I realize I am sweating
I have seen sharks eye to eye
On land and off
Survived horrendous damage to my body
Repelled psychic and spiritual harm
I have loved like no other
I have come to terms with my own reality
But for today only

Rebuild America
The Communist Democrats and the Fascist Republicans no longer serve the needs of
the United States of America or its citizens.
The working class will prevail and build a new political party based on work and
productivity.
We will rebuild America as a greener stronger nation that makes its own goods and is
not a slave to petroleum products.
We will take care of our young and our old.
We will rebuild America by supporting small business and by protecting our natural
resources.
Our military will not hesitate to protect us but will not step beyond that mission.
We will increase our national security by reaching out to those who will listen.
We are not an island and will seek to include our neighbors in the South and Central
American region.
We will seek to become one America and unify our hemisphere one billion strong.

Not too tight just tight enough

Ill kill myself without fail
I am sure I am dying now
But if I kill myself I hope its clean
Am I dying now?
Ill kill my self if I can on Wednesday
Because I cannot pay the bill
For what it costs to bury me
Ill leave work early if I can
Well Ill kill myself
Uh Ill kill my self
Ill kill my self

Marry Then
I Stood close to the Watchtower near the well
Taking on arrows and very close to Hell
Listened to the yelling and listened to the fight
So I left out fear that it wouldn’t end right
I left for my bonny lass I would meet in the wind
Away we would go and marry then
Oh we would marry then
We would go marry then
Me and my bonny lass would marry then
In the deep darkness of the wind

It says: “Bankruptcy For The Poor”
The Congress has become a whore
To the desire for perpetual reelection
